Created by Ford’s global design studios especially for the Salone Del Mobile 2015 in Italy, this foosball table is a concept designed to get as near to a real soccer game as possible. Inspired by real-life open-air soccer stadiums, the table features real and living grass that thrives inside the table’s ecosystem. Actual air vents prevent condensation on the tables’s transparent ceiling generated by the real grass.
But there’s even more fun to it. Depending on the length of the grass you can play a quick or slow game. Short grass means faster playing so if you want that snappy game, take your beard trimmer (no, we kid you not. That’s the Ford designers’ advise) and trim the grass at your desired length. We’ve had the pleasure of trying it out in Milan and while giving it a go, it felt very real because of the grassed surface.
Unfortunately, Ford currently has no plans to put this Ford foosball table in production. What a bummer, it would be such a gigantic success. Perhaps car manufacturers should learn that being an automotive brand today is much than just producing cars. A car brand as a lifestyle experience scenario: getting home from work and put your Ford Mustang in the garage. Next: play a relaxing game of foosball on your Ford foosball table. Common Ford, fire this foosball table up for production. It would be a blast. For sure !
