We have to admit: the first time we laid eyes on the ‘OneSense’ headphones from New York based designer Joe Doucet, we had this slight Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge feeling, the guy with the visor in Star Trek, remember ?
At second thought however the ‘OneSense’ seems like a pretty clever idea. It does just what the name says: it cuts off an important sense that often interfers while listening to you favourite music, your vision. It’s a painful truth: we never just listen to music anymore. We listen to music while chatting, tweeting, …. At that point even the best music becomes some kind of artefact, musical wallpaper so to say. The ‘OneSense’ concept headphones, which wrap around both your ears and eyes to form a big, red bulwark against distractions are the solution for that. “Once on, you are unaware of your surroundings as your vision is shut off and your hearing is dominated by pre-recorded tracks to induce alpha waves, or simply your favorite album”, Doucet says. Nice !
