Last night HUGO presented its Spring/Summer 2012 Collection at the Museum Island Forum (Forum Museumsinsel) in the historic heart of the German capital. Some 1000 guests, including international purchasers, celebrities and press representatives, attended the show which was held at this important architectural complex built over the course of three centuries on the banks of the River Spree. With the aid of countless lights and gossamer-thin fabrics, the factory-like premises with its half-timbered steel roof was transformed into a brilliant realm of shimmering white. “Poetic Tailoring” headlines a collection that shows a minimalist, post-modern look and was inspired by the collages of British artist and photographer Melissa Gibson. The silhouettes are clean and reduced; graphic micropatterns and a subtly nuanced range of blues shape the collection along with grenadine, silver, white and black.
Thirty top international models showcased the HUGO Mens- and Womenswear on a snow-white, 38-meter catwalk, including Kasia Struss, Jac, the Chinese super-model Liu Wen, Clément Chabernaud, Sean O’Pry and Simon Nessmann. The guests passed spectacular video installations, projected onto the facades framing the inner courtyard, as they headed to the after party – where a flying dinner featuring spinach salad, prawns and avocado, goat’s cheese, grilled steak, and strawberry mint salad awaited them. The DJ duo Rafael Wallon and Vladimir Schall from the Montanaclub in Paris and a specially installed swimming pool kept the party bubbling until daybreak. www.hugoboss.com
