Only few days left to get your WECANDANCE acid cowboy outfit together. Lacking inspiration? Hereby the line-up of contributing designers consisting of 8 talents that created an item inspired by the 2018 festival theme, ACID COWBOYS.
For this edition, as for the previous five editions, WECANDANCE created a capsule collection with some of the biggest names in the Belgian fashion scene supporting our home-grown talent. This year some new names were added to the festival’s favourites. Besides the Belgian designs, one international collab with JuulsJuuls from Germany also made the cut.
WECANDANCE is honoured that this year’s sweater was designed by Tom Tosseyn, an Antwerp-based graphic artist who has gathered a cult following throughout the years. He has already built up an impressive career, working for high-end fashion brands such as Raf Simons, Jil Sander, Adidas Y-3, Calvin Klein and others. The sweater will be available in white at WECANDANCE.
CAPSULE COLLECTION> BARE Fine Jewelry
BARE Fine Jewelry, a label founded by Antwerp-based Dries Criel, is about giving shape to and redefining classics in a contemporary form. Inspiration is found in the contemporary arts, fashion, modern sculpture and architecture. The BARE pieces are handcrafted by the best artisans in Antwerp using the finest materials available. For WECANDANCE, Dries created an emerald signet ring and a brown diamond brute ring.
> Bea Mombaers for Serax
Interior stylist Bea Mombaers created a collection of bags for Serax, that combines Belgian design with an international appeal. The collection is characterized by a taste for minimalism and premium quality. All bags are made out of high-quality buffalo leather that becomes more beautiful as it ages. The bags are all made with an eye for detail and finished with a cotton lining in Bea’s signature colour, khaki. For WECANDANCE, Bea created a waistbag in buffalo leather.
> Homage by La Fille d’O
In 2003, Murielle Scherre started a lingerie brand, La Fille d’O, that became somewhat of a religion. Murielle is known to add only what is needed in her designs, out of respect for the pure beauty the human body already has to offer. She has been producing her designs in Belgium from the very start, making it a true ‘handmade in Belgium’ brand. Murielle created a leather top called ‘CAN THRILL’ for this year’s festival.
> Cesar Casier
In addition to being a model, food lover, traveler and author of two cookbooks “Model Kitchen” and “Cesar’s Kitchen”, Cesar has launched his own clothing line “Cesar Casier T-Line”. A cool mix of sweaters, T-shirts and hoodies for men and women, young and old. For this year’s edition of WECANDANCE, Cesar went for a sleeveless ACID COWBOYS shirt, adding a robust touch to the collection.
JuulsJuuls is a Berlin-based online jewelry concept store offering mainly demi-fine jewelry, a new category in jewelry. Sold at semi-luxury prices, this category is filling the gap between fine and costume jewelry. While fine jewelry is traditionally gifted on special occasions, demi-fine jewelry has become a fashion accessory to complement a woman’s everyday style. For WECANDANCE, JuulsJuuls created a magic pouch. Used by many native people in North America and across the world, medicine bags are made to store sacred items to bring healing energy and personal empowerment.
John Carril has always been passionate about fashion and design and studied graphic design and advertising at the Saint-Luc Institute. In 2014, he created his own company in Paris. He is currently living in Brussels and Paris. For this year’s edition, John Carril created a high quality fedora made from Italian wool felt that is 100% water repellent. It features black satin in the interior, two gold-plated buttons and a feather that gives the hat a unique and prestigious look.
Virginie Morobé founded her namesake brand in 2015 and offers luxury shoes and accessories for women who long for contemporary elegance and street couture. Designed in Antwerp and handmade by artisans in Portugal, the collection now encompasses a full range of luxury leather goods sourced and produced worldwide with an emphasis on handcrafted processes. Virginie believes that an outfit should be based on the shoes, not the other way around. For the festival, she created over-the-knee leather fringe boots.
> Six Edges
Six Edges is a Belgian premium menswear brand for those who refuse to be characterized by just one thing. The brand reinvents the classics and brings you modern wardrobe essentials. Qualitative and pleasant fabrics are used with a strong eye for detail. For WECANDANCE, Six Edges designed a burgundy rib jacket.
With fashion being one of the keystones of WECANDANCE, the exclusive fashion collabs are becoming more impressive with each edition of the festival as are the outfits of the guests.
