On Sunday 2nd of September and Monday 3th of September Orotempo The Show at hall 3 of Brussels Expo was again the place to be for every professional with a heart for watches an jewelry. Are you not a professional? Don’t worry you can buy lots of the stuff online at orotempo.be
Happy you you!
From the welcome desk we take the stairways to the first floor where a window with a lot of bling bling watches attracts our attention. It’s the brand new collection Moody from Welder. The colourful watches immediatly bring us in a happy mood. We are sure they have the same effect on you as well.
On the show, we ran into some very interesting stands and distributors. Diamanti per Tutti for instance showed its new Black Tulip collection in avant-première. For this collection the brand combined for the first time diamonds with black enamel (around 250 Euros for the cuff). Later this year jewelry pieces that combine black onyx and citrine will follow.
Dare to be… rectangular
After it’s innovative square collection Belgian watch brand Amalys presented its brand new rectangular watch collection. Margot, Lise, Ivy, Constance, Claire, Diane, Zoé, … they are all gazing at us when we enter the stand. Julia, Alison, Pili, Lila, Zoé, … are some examples of names of Amalys watches, all female. “But no they are not names of ex-girlfriends”, creator Adrien Voisin confirms. “Just as the brand name I wanted to stay in female atmospheres. Amalys is a name of ancient Greek heritage that embodies the ambitious, passionate woman of today, a name that embodies our clientele.
Adrien wanted to create feminine and elegant timepieces with a simple design in super slim stainless steel watch cases, square ones and now also rectangular cases. “I am convinced that after the simple round watches, square and rectangular ones have become the new trend”, Adrien tells.
Furthermore Amalys offers interchangeable bracelets – Italian leather straps or stainless steel mesh bands – which makes it easy to personalize your watch in an eye blink. Prices varie from 109 Euros till 130 Euros.
The power of nature
A stand you could not miss, was the one from Gemini, as they made a bracelet for all the visitors and therefore attracted a lot of attention. Today bracelets are so much ‘en vogue’ for the modern man that people litteraly were queuing up. Or was it because the bracelets are so beautiful? Made from natural stone mostly marble scouted in the four outer corners of our planet the bracelets are also said to have some vertues on the body.
“Modern men are now looking for authenticity, and this is what we offer”, commented regio manager for Belgium and the Netherlands, Michael Lemmens. And if you are in for a nice story follow the Gemini instagram page as its fed by two guys travelling around the world in quest for natural stones to make new colours and styles of bracelets. Fascinating stories and pictures guaranteed!
The most beautiful stand undoubtedly was the one next door from Aria (pronounce Ariiia). Pascale van Maele gathered a lot of experience as a sales in diamond jewellry and used that knowledge from dealing with customers when her boss offered her the chance to create her own jewellry collection. “I just did my own thing”, she explains. “I designed two new collections which you can have a look at in the windows here at the show. I only draw, I don’t manufacture myself. Therefore I work with goldsmiths and diamant traders in Antwerp. My collections are brandless. This is the result of a survey we have done with 3.500 woman. The survey showed us that most women are not much aware about jewelry brands. We asked them if you go to a jeweller is it to buy a nice piece from a certain brand or not. Well it appears that most women know a lot about watch brands but they don’t know the brands of jewelry. Only high segment brands as Pomellato, Chopard, Cartier, … they can name but in the mainstream segment, brands apparently are not important. Jewellers can add there own logo free of cost. Prices varie in between 1.000 and 25.000 Euros and all jewelry is certified.”
It’s about making time
We had the chance to talk with Jeffrey, founder of KNRS (pronounce KaRNS) a brand that saw life this year … in Belgium. At least the design is made in Belgium because the watches themselves are assembled in the East, in Hong Kong more specifically and the movements are supplied by the Movado group.
With slogans as: “It’s not about having time, but about making time”, KNRS wants us to reinvent the pleasure and delight of wearing beautiful watches. The brand caters for the watch lovers who are looking for style as well as sheer quality. The range is vast: a KNRS watch can be urban chic, a sporting chronometer or just minimalist, and of course, last but not least, ultra feminine.
Quality exudes from the high grade steel casing, the superb and detailed finish and the numerous wrist bands available in a wide array of fine leathers. All this is offered to you without sacrificing anything of the KNRS philosophy: being truly affordable.
There are several collections, the 41 series, the chrono, the June collection, the Nordic and last but not least the Urban range. Prices varie from 119 euros till 179 euros. For that price your watch comes with a beautiful leather pouch.
We adore this KRNS AEON. Only 199 euro, two bracelets included one in leather and one milanese bracelet.
Stock = strength
Special newcomer on the fair was River Mounts, a British company specialised in bridal and other mounts in 18 ct gold and platinum. “For 14 years we are on the market now and we gained a strong reputation thanks to our huge stock”, Elizabeth Metalinou, director from River Mounts tells. “We mainly work with diamond suppliers or jewellers that buy the stones themselves or get requests from clients with for instance family stones. We only provide mounts not stones.
