Crossover collaborations between car manufacturers and other disciplines like fashion gurus are not new: in fact the first ones emerged somewehere in the 80’s with Peugeot slash Lacoste and the likes. But then again we have to say: a collaboration between Saab and Nespresso is something that we judge out of the ordinary. The Saab_Nespresso concept car is developed by Eric Leong, a final-year Transportation Design student at the Umea Institute of Design in Sweden. The project was sponsored by Saab. We love the lines, the sloping roof and the versatile cargo space at the rear end which does make the car look a bit like an epresso machine on wheels and we mean that in an extreme positive way. The flat deck at the back end also enables to place some cushions to enjoy a quick tan on a sunny day while the solar panels on the roof provide energy. One of the more innovative elements however are the digital projection rims. Basically any wheel design you want, could be downloaded from Saab, and then projected onto the car so you can change your wheel rims as often as you change your underwear. For those who start daydreaming: this is a concept car and it won’t make its way to the showroom any time soon. What a bummer !
