WOW* Restaurant score Bia Mara Antwerpen:
Now, we like a good portion of fish & chips every now and then. Luckily for us, just recently upscale fish & chips address ‘Bia Mara’ opened its doors in Antwerp in the shadow of the mighty city hall of the Sinjoorenstad. In a down-to-earth yet warm and inviting setting two Irish blokes (Simon Whiteside and Barry Wallace) serve their sustainable and modern version of the traditional fish & chips. Well, they do not really serve them theirselves. Some lovely and smiley waitresses are doing all the hard work. (insert grin here) Is this the best fish & chips restaurant in Antwerp (and beyond) ? Stay tuned.
When entering Bia Mara through the glass door, we immediately get the impression of a no-nonsense yet cosy place. The nightly view on the illuminated city hall surely adds up to the atmosphere. This is a place where fish & chips are taken very seriously. Fresh sustainably sourced fish only – working with NorthSeaChefs – fresh herbs and in house roasted, grounded spices are used to make all homemade sauces. Sound promising.
