Campari has launched its offical campaign ‘Campari Red Diaries 2017’. Thereby the famous calendar of the Italian spirit chooses a new route, that of movie/video. Actor Clive Owen, Caroline Tillette and filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino are setting the mood with the smoking short film ‘Killer in Red’. The basic idea behind this elegant movie is that cocktails truly can function as narrators of exciting stories. As the hometown of extraordinary cinema, Rome was best featured as the sophisticated backdrop to unveil all those amazing stories of Campari (cocktails). That’s where ‘Killer in Red’ debuted just two weeks ago. The story in short: set in a high-end bar in Hollywood, the typically Sorrentino-esque noir sees Golden Globe winner Clive Owen move from ordinary man to take on the guise of Floyd, a notorious bartender back in the early 1980s, as Clive’s character imagines the story behind the creation of the eponymous cocktail creation, the ‘Killer in Red’. The film moves between two time periods, brilliantly portraying the high-energy zeitgeist of the time using a cast of more than 170 and through the use of original costume from the era.

Closing act of the Campari Red Diaries 2017 campaign is a cocktailbook, ‘Campari Red Diaries’, traditionally printed on 9.999 copies, only distributed among Campari-friends. Let’s hope you’re among them. The book features beautiful pictures of the Argentinian photographer Ale Burset that together with juicy stories immortalizes the history behind an iconic drink and the bartenders that serve it. Cheers !
