Mid april 2012 the world’s first fashion show exclusively with 3D printed designs will take place in Leuven (Belgium). 3D Creations of well known designers such as Elvis Pompilio, Iris van Herpen, Niccolò Casas and Daniel Widrig will be showcased for the first time. But it’s not only about famous designers. During the show the 3D designs from 20 finalists of the ‘Hats Off to 3D’ will be showcased also. We already saw some 3D printed designs during the fashion weeks in London and Paris but this show only brings 3D printed fashion accessories and that makes it a world premiere.

The event however is more than just a fashion show. It’s part of the ‘World Conference’ on additive manufacturing organised by Materialise, international leader in this technology and .MGX, the design department of this company. At the end of the show the winner of the best hat or accessory design will be revealed. The jury consists of Elvis Pompilio (who already designed for Madonna, Sharon Stone and Harisson Ford and brands such as Chanel, Dior, Valentino and Hugo Boss), Didier Vervaren (former art director at fine leather goods company Delvaux) and Wilfried Vancrae, CEO of Materialise.
